abstract In one embodiment, it is proposed a method for encoding a light field content. The method is remarkable in that it comprises storing a set of parameters defining a set of lines in a first 2D ray diagram, wherein, for each point x 1 q x 2 q belonging to a line in said set of lines. The method further comprises: n- storing radiance of a light ray passing through a point (y 1 ,y 2 ) in a second 2D ray diagram on a line having the same slope as the line where point x 1 q x 2 q belongs to, as well as an additional information indicating the presence of a light ray; n- storing an additional information indicating that no light ray passes through a point (y 1 ,y 2 ), in a second 2D ray diagram on a line having the same slope as the line where point x 1 q x 2 q belongs to.
