abstract The present invention provides a method of detecting whether an implanted fluid-filled prosthetic implant has ruptured, the method comprising the steps of imaging the implant using magnetic resonance imaging and inspecting the magnetic resonance image for defects in the implant, wherein the implant comprises a shell which comprises at least one layer containing a matrix material and an additive distributed therein, the density of the additive being greater than that of the matrix material.
