abstract The present disclosure relates to a method to obtain collagen/gelatin from marine sponges based on water acidified with carbon dioxide for the isolation and/or purification of soluble compounds, in particular a method for obtaining collagen/gelatin from a marine sponge comprising the extraction of the collagen/gelatin from said sponge using water acidified with carbon dioxide and using high pressure. The present disclosure has a surprisingly high collagen extraction yield.
