titleOfInvention Method of making a hydrogel, hydrogel and formulation for carriers and/or substitute of connective tissues obtained using such method
abstract A method of making a hydrogel for use as carriers and/or substitute of connective tissues, comprising the steps of providing a predetermined amount of an aqueous solution, adding and solubilizing a predetermined amount of a first electromagnetic radiation- polymerizable water-soluble polymer in the aqueous solution, adding a predetermined amount of a polymerization regulator agent to the aqueous solution, for regulating the polymerization of the first polymer to obtain a mixture, applying an electromagnetic radiation to the mixture, to achieve polymerization of the first polymer with a predetermined viscosity and obtain a sterile hydrogel. A second radiation-polymerizable water-soluble polymer, which is different from the first and is non-reactive to said regulator, is added to the aqueous solution before application of the electromagnetic radiation, the amounts of the regulator agent relative to the first polymer and the second polymer being selected to allow control the final consistency and viscosity of said sterile hydrogel. The second polymer has a degree of polymerization that varies according to the intermolecular steric hindrance of the chains of the first polymer. A hydrogel and a formulation designed for use as carriers and/or a substitute of connective tissues.
