abstract The present invention concerns a nitrocellulose-based propellant composition comprising: (a) a nitrate ester based propellant consisting of nitrocellulose alone (single base) or in combination at least with a blasting oil (double or higher base); and (b) a stabilizer consisting of a general formula (I), wherein the stabilizer combines efficient, long term stability of the nitrocellulose-based propellants composition without formation of any detectable amounts of carcinogenic or mutagenic by-products, such as -NNO groups.
