abstract The invention relates to a method for operating an amusement ride (1), in particular a roller coaster, comprising at least one vehicle (2) which moves along a path and at least one passenger (30). Said method generates a virtual reality corresponding to a journey of the vehicle (2) by means of a computer program which is specific to the amusement ride and said virtual reality is represented on the head-mounted display (20) associated with the passenger (30) of a vehicle (2) in accordance with the position of the vehicle (2) on the path and in accordance with the position and/or orientation of the head-mounted display (20). According to a first solution of the claimed invention, the computer program which is specific to the amusement ride is carried out on a mobile terminal (10) of the passenger (30), said mobile terminal comprising a communications interface (10.1). According to a second solution of the claimed invention, the computer program which is specific to the amusement ride is carried out on a device which is firmly connected to the vehicle (2), said device being designed with connection means for connecting the head-mounted display (20) of the passenger (30). The invention also relates to an amusement ride (1), in particular a roller coaster for carrying out the claimed method.
