abstract The present invention relates to a dioxide silicon or titanium derivative of formula (I): (MO2) - (Am+) y, for dental use as antibacterial, antiviral or antimycotic agent. The present dioxide derivatives are particularly useful in the treatment of oral cavity diseases such as gingivitis or periodontitis, and can conveniently be formulated in admixture with known oral care active ingredient, such as chlorexidine and the like. Thus, the invention also relates to a dental care composition, e.g. in the form of toothpaste or cream, comprising at least the derivatives (I), in admixture with at least one physiologically acceptable carrier or excipient.
