The present invention provides: an enzyme having the activity of cleaving, in a DNA chain comprising a damaged base, the phosphodiester bond between the deoxyribonucleotide comprising said damaged base and the deoxyribonucleotide adjacent to said deoxyribonucleotide on the 5' side as a genetic engineering reagent, etc.; and a method for removing damaged bases from DNA chains using the enzyme. |
