abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for preparing a solid hydroxyalkylamide comprising the steps of: (a) reacting an alkyl ester of a dicarboxylic acid with an alkanolamine in the presence of a basic catalyst at a temperature in the range between 80°C and 100°C until no ester is detected in the reaction mixture; (b) adding a mixture of water and acid; and (c) solidifying the product obtained in step (b). |
