abstract |
A method comprising: napplying a magnetic nanoparticle/polymer suspension to at least a portion of a surface of plastic pieces, or to at least a portion of a surface of fiberboard pieces, in a mixed solid waste stream; and n nsubjecting the magnetic nanoparticle/polymer suspension-coated plastic or fiberboard pieces to a magnetic field to separate the magnetic nanoparticle/polymer suspension-coated plastic or fiberboard pieces from the mixed solid waste stream. n A composition comprising magnetic nanoparticles dispersed in a film-forming polymer solution, wherein the magnetic nanoparticles having an average particle size of 2 to 100 nm, the magnetic nanoparticles are surface modified with a dispersion enhancing agent and the composition is sprayable. |
