abstract Described is a fuel for compression ignition engines, comprising the following components: a) at least one low molecular weight Polyoxymethylendialkylether the formula RO (-CH 2 O) n R, wherein R is an alkyl radical and n is 1 to 5, b) 0.005 to 5 wt. % of at least one higher molecular weight polyalkylene glycol alkyl ether of the formula R 1 O (-CH 2 -CHR 2 -O-) n H and copolymers thereof and / or of the formula H (-O-CHR 2 -CH 2 -) n -O-CH 2 -CH 2 -O - (- CH 2 -CHR 2 -O-) n H and copolymers thereof, wherein R 1 is an alkyl, R 2 is a hydrogen or methyl radical and n is 10 to 55, and mixtures of these C) 0 to 20% by weight of at least one relatively high molecular weight polyoxymethylene dialkyl ether of the formula RO (-CH 2 O-) n R, where R is an alkyl radical and n is 6 to 10, d) 0 to 5% by weight at least one higher molecular weight polyethylene glycol dialkyl ether of the formula RO (-CH 2 CH 2 O-) n R, wherein R is an alkyl radical and n is 11 to 23, e) 0 to 0.5 wt .-% of at least one organis f) 0 to 0.1 wt .-% of at least one long-chain fatty acid and g) 0 to 12 wt .-% dimethyl ether, wherein the missing up to 100 wt .-% fraction on the at least one low molecular weight Polyoxymethylendialkylether.
