abstract The present invention relates to a method for flash generation with high power density in the UV range using a flash lamp (1), and the flash lamp (1) itself. The flashlamp (1) has an at least partially translucent outer bulb (2) having a an ionizing gas mixture (5) filled discharge vessel (4) and an ignition device (6) surrounds. In this case, a temperature control device is arranged near the discharge vessel (4), wherein the tempering device is adapted to heat the ionizable gas mixture (5) prior to the excitation to a predetermined preheating temperature.
