abstract | The invention relates to a process for the production of paper which comprises providing an aqueous suspension containing cellulosic fibres, introducing into the suspension a filler comprising in pre-mixed form a clay and an anionic cellulose derivative having a degree of substitution of carboxyalkyl groups up to about 0.65, and dewatering the suspension to form a web or sheet of paper. n The invention further relates to a filler comprising clay and an anionic cellulose derivative having a degree of substitution of carboxyalkyl groups up to about 0.65. The invention also relates to paper comprising the filler according to the invention. n The invention further relates to a method of making a filler which comprises mixing clay with an anionic cellulose derivative having a degree of substitution of carboxyalkyl groups up to about 0.65. |
