abstract The invention relates to a method for increasing the lipid content in an organism, in particular a microalga, by means of modulation of the activity of a triacylglycerol (TAG) lipase. The invention further relates to the organisms, or microalgae, obtained by said method and having increased lipid content and to the uses thereof in industry and medicine, in particular for obtaining omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids. The invention further relates to a nucleic acid from Phaeodactylum tricornutum that codes for a new TAG lipase and to the use of said nucleic acid in the influencing of the fraction of fatty acids, in particular the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids in biomasses.
