A method of screening substances for their ability to sebosuppressive activity as part of a topical treatment of the skin, comprising an in vivo test, said in vivo test comprising the following steps: select one of the AhR receptor ligands, select a mammal expressing the CYP1A1 gene, to treat, topically, a portion of the skin of said mammal comprising sebaceous glands with a composition comprising said substance, according to a dose-response / response time protocol, to examine by immunohistochemical staining the expression of CYP1A1 in sebaceous glands of said part of the skin of said mammal, selecting said substance according to the immunohistochemical labeling appearance sequence in several different types of cells of said sebaceous glands. |
