A method for identifying upgrading catalysts from catalytic compositions containing Pt and/or Ir, and large-pore zeolites, wherein the negative charges are partly neutralized by alkaline metals, alkaline-earth metals and lanthanoids, and partly by hydrogen ions, wherein said method comprises reacting decalin with hydrogen under hydrodecyclization conditions, in the presence of one of said catalytic compositions, calculating an index based on the selectivities to C4 hydrocarbons and C2 hydrocarbons obtained in said reaction and comparing said index with a predetermined range of values. The catalytic compositions thus selected can be used in an upgrading process of hydrotreated hydrocarbon mixtures for obtaining high-quality diesel fuels with a reduced density. |
