abstract A rubber composition is disclosed comprising, based on parts by weight per 100 parts by weight rubber (phr): n(A) elastomers comprising: n(1) 65 to 90 phr of cis 1,4-polyisoprene rubber, n(2) 5 to 25 phr of cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubber, n n(B) 1 to 8 phr of a salt of at least one fatty acid comprising the product of at least one of stearic, palmitic and oleic acid and at least one of zinc oxide, magnesium oxide and calcium carbonate; n(C) 45 to 70 phr of a reinforcing filler; and n(D) a curative for the rubber composition comprising sulfur and a sulfur cure accelerator comprising a combination of at least one of N-tertbutyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide and N-N-dicyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide with 1,6-bis(N,N-dibenzylthiocarbamoyldithio) hexane. n Also, a tire tread comprising such a rubber composition is disclosed.
