abstract The present invention provides a tether (1) containing strands (2) comprising high strength fibers and a plurality of conductors (4), wherein each conductor (4) is separated from any other conductor along its length by at least one of said strands. The tether (1) can be used for transporting electrical power from a high altitude wind energy generator or a wave and tidal energy generator to a ground station.
