abstract | The present invention relates to the field of diagnostics. In particular, it relates to a method for diagnosing whether a subject exhibiting a symptom of an acute cardiovascular event suffers from a pulmonary complication, or not, said method comprising determining the amount of a surfactant protein-B peptide (SP-B peptide) in a sample of said subject, and comparing said amount to a reference amount whereby it is diagnosed whether the said subject suffers from a pulmonary complication, or not. Further contemplated is a method for diagnosing whether a subject exhibiting a symptom of an acute cardiovascular event is at risk of developing a pulmonary complication, or not. Moreover, the invention relates to a device or kit for carrying out the method of the invention. |
