abstract The invention relates to a process for preparing of phenyl carbamate derivatives useful in the treatment of CNS (central nervous system) disorders and representing compounds of formula (1):n nwhich process comprises carbamating, by reacting it with chlorosulfonyl isocyanate, a compound of formula (6):n nwherein nX each independently is selected from halogens, nn is an integer of 1-5, n* denotes a chiral carbon atom, nR 1 is linear or branched C 1-10 -alkyl, and nthe protecting group is one or more selected from trialkyl silyl groups and trialkylaryl silyl groups, wherein each alkyl group independently is linear, branched or cyclic C 1-4 -alkyl groups, and each aryl group independently is C 5-8 -aryl. n Furthermore, the invention relates to certain intermediates useful in the above process and to methods for preparing them.
