abstract The invention relates to a process for producing furnace carbon black in a furnace carbon black reactor containing a combustion zone, a reaction zone and an abort zone along the reactor axis by generating a stream of hot exhaust gas in the combustion zone by completely burning a fuel in an oxygen-containing gas and passing the exhaust gas from the combustion zone through the reaction zone to the termination zone, mixing a carbon black feedstock into the hot exhaust gas in the reaction zone and stopping the reaction between soot and the hot exhaust gases in the termination zone by spraying water, thereby introducing an oxidant-containing gas stream into the termination zone.
