abstract The present invention provides a procedure for the recuperation of degraded soils, in particular in quarries, based on isolating acid-producing microorganisms such as Pseudomonas putida, Pseudomonas brassicacearum, Flavobacterium denitrificans and Pseudomonas sp., the adhesion of such microorganisms to biological materials whereat the production of acids by the microorganisms permits the solubilisation of soil nutrients and, by means thereof, plant growth, moreover permitting the solubilisation of carbonates, giving rise to the formation of micropores which, in turn, improve the establishment and taking root of plants utilised in restoration. These properties may be found in a single microorganism or they may be combined through the establishment of microbial consortiums facilitating said activities
