abstract Process for the preparation of alkali metal ammonium chromate double salts comprising the steps: a) reaction of alkali metal dichromate and ammonia in an aqueous medium and precipitation of the resulting alkali metal ammonium chromate double salt, b) separation of the alkali metal ammonium chromate double salt obtained in step a) from the mother liquor, c) reaction of the alkali metal monochromate-containing mother liquor obtained from step b), if appropriate after concentration thereof with carbon dioxide and precipitation of the alkali metal bicarbonate formed thereby, d) separation of the alkali metal bicarbonate obtained in step c) and e) recycling the alkali metal dichromate-containing mother liquor obtained from step d) into step a).
