An electrochemical device superior in charge-discharge properties such as low-temperature property, having a positive electrode and a negative electrode, wherein at least either of the positive electrode and the negative electrode has a current collector and an electrode layer, the electrode layer has an electrode active material and a binder, the binder contains, as a component, a polymer having a constituent unit derived from an amide group-containing monomer and a constituent unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid, and the polymer (A) satisfies the following condition (1) or (2). n(1) The polymer (A) has a swelling rate of 120 to 600% when immersed, for 24 hours, in a solution (i) of 80°C containing ethylene carbonate, diethyl carbonate, ethyl methyl carbonate and lithium hexafluorophosphate. n(2) The polymer (A) has a swelling rate of 110 to 300% when immersed, for 24 hours, in a solution (ii) of 80°C containing propylene carbonate and methyl triethyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate. |
