The present invention provides a method of preparing at least one nano-structured material of formula M 2 X n :M q comprising the step of thermally heating: n- at least one compound having the formula [CX 3 (CX 2 ) n (CH 2 ) m COO] p M 2 ; and n- at least one compound having the formula [CX 3 (CX 2 ) n (CH 2 ) m COO] p M q ; n nwherein neach X is the same or different and is selected from the group consisting of: nhalogens, O, S, Se, Te, N, P and As; neach n is the same or different and is 1 ≤ n ≤ 10; neach m is the same or different and is 0 ≤ m ≤ 10; neach p is the same or different and is 1 ≤ p ≤ 5; neach M 2 is the same or different and is selected from the group consisting of: n nSC, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu; and each M q is the same or different and is selected from the group consisting of Ho, Er, Tm and Yb. n The present invention also provides uses of the nano-structured material prepared according to the method of the present invention. |
