An analysis system (100, 200, 500) for analyzing biological samples comprising: n- at least first and second analytical devices (522) for performing an analysis, at least one of the first and second analytical devices being an analyzer (146, 228, 514, 614) for characterizing a property of a biological sample (114, 218); at least one of the first and second analytical devices being a transport device (112, 24, 612, 512) n- a sample workflow manager (102) and an instrument manager (104) coupled to the sample workflow manager, wherein the sample workflow manager is coupled to the at least first and second analytical devices for receiving a process status (189, 230, 306) from the at least first and second analytical devices, wherein the sample workflow manager provides at least one preconfigured processing route (168, 504) to the instrument manager in accordance with the process status; n nwherein the instrument manager is coupled to the transport device; wherein the instrument manager comprises a memory for storing the at least one preconfigured processing route, wherein the instrument manager is adapted for receiving a test order for analyzing the biological sample using the analyzer, wherein the instrument manager is adapted for generating commands for controlling the transport device for transporting the biological sample to the analyzer in accordance with the test order and the at least one preconfigured processing route. |
