abstract |
A tire comprising an outer tread (14) and a barrier layer (24) disposed radially inwardly of the outer tread (14) is disclosed. The barrier layer (24) comprises a dynamically vulcanized alloy comprising a resin as a continuous phase and at least a partially vulcanized rubber as a dispersed phase. The tire (10) further comprises a tire layer (18) situated adjacent at least one of the inner (26) or outer surface (28) of the barrier layer (24), the tire layer (18) comprising a rubber formulation comprising 100 parts of natural rubber, a synthetic rubber, or blends or combinations thereof, a melamine derivative, and at least one reinforcing filler. The tire (10) is devoid of an adhesive layer between the barrier layer (24) and the tire layer (18) and the tire layer (18) adheres directly to the barrier layer (24). |
