An optical element (25) is arranged in the beam path of the laser light pulses (23). The optical element (25) widens the wavelength spectrum of the laser light pulses (23). Different wavelength components (46, 48, 60, 62) of the broadband laser light pulses (32) travel through a compensating device (30) different path lengths, so that the different portions (46, 48, 60, 62) at the same time on the sample ( 16).
