abstract The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for separating mixtures containing oil or bitumen and additives. The apparatus and method are particularly applicable to the separation of grit and bitumen in excavated asphalt pavements. In addition, the mineral phase can be separated from the oil phase even with oil sands and oil shale and a separation of bitumen and backing board in recycling of bitumen board as well as oil binder and oil are brought about. These are separated by a solvent, the individual components of the mixture, wherein the solvent absorbs the oil or bitumen. In a next step, the oil and bitumen are separated from the solvent, so that the solvent can be reused.
