Invention related to flocculation of yeast cells |
abstract |
The present invention describes mutations in the Flo5A domain flocculins of industrial yeasts which lead to a targeted modification of substrate specificity and flocculin proteins. In particular, Flo5A-Q98A mutant surprisingly shows in vivo a NewFlo type of flocculation inhibition, by inhibition also by glucose, but without losing total flocculation ability.n n n Furthermore, a method is provided for detecting Flo5-bearing yeast cells in a cell suspension. |
