abstract Producing a lithium-containing mixed oxide powder, comprises: (a) atomizing a stream of a solution containing a lithium compound and a metal compound of mixed oxide components, by an atomizing gas to form an aerosol exhibiting a mean droplet size of less than 100 mu m; (b) reacting the aerosol in a reaction chamber with a flame made of a mixture of fuel gas and air, where the total oxygen required is the amount of oxygen required for the complete reaction of the fuel gas and the metal compounds; (c) cooling the reaction stream; and (d) separating the solid product from the reaction stream.
