abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing a copolymer in a semi-continuous operation in a polymerisation device containing a polymerisation reactor that is connected to a metering unit, an acid monomer being provided in the metering unit and a polyether macromonomer and water being provided in the polymerisation reactor. According to the invention: the acid monomer is dosed from the metering unit into the polymerisation reactor via an acid monomer metering line; and prior to and/or during the metering of the acid monomer into the polymerisation reactor a radical polymerisation initiator is introduced into the polymerisation reactor, resulting in the formation of an aqueous medium in said reactor, in which medium the acid monomer and polyether macromonomer are converted by radical polymerisation into copolymers. During the radical polymerisation process: a partial quantity of the aqueous medium containing the copolymer is continuously recovered from the polymerisation reactor by means of a reaction mixture line that is connected to the acid monomer metering line via a mixing unit; the recovered aqueous medium containing the copolymer is mixed with the acid monomer in the mixing unit during the metering of the acid monomer and after being mixed is fed back to the polymerisation reactor by means of the acid monomer metering line. |
