abstract The invention is directed to provide a lithographic printing plate precursor which provides the good scratch resistance without accompanying degradation of the printing durability, chemical resistance and on-press development property, and a lithographic printing plate precursor capable of undergoing on-press development comprising a support and an image-recording layer containing (A) a binder polymer containing a repeating unit having a hydrocarbon group containing an alicyclic condensed ring structure in its side chain, a repeating unit having at least one hydrophilic group selected from a hydroxy group, an amino group, an amido group, a sulfonic acid group and an alkyleneoxide chain in its side chain and a repeating unit having a cyano group in its side chain, (B) an organic polymer particle, (C) a radical generator, (D) an infrared absorbing agent, and (E) a radical polymerizable compound, wherein a combination of the repeating unit having a condensed ring structure in its side chain and the repeating unit having a hydrophilic group in its side chain in (A) the binder polymer fulfills the specific condition is provided.
