| abstract |
The invention concerns a method for treating water comprising calcium ions. The method is characterized by the steps of dividing the stream of water in a tube into a first stream and a second stream using a dividing element arranged inside the tube, adding alkali into the second stream to raise the pH level to at least 8.5 and to precipitate the calcium ions into calcium carbonate in the second stream, and combining the first stream and the second stream together. Carbon dioxide is used for the precipitation. Also an arrangement suitable for performing the method and a paper product manufactured utilizing the method or arrangement is disclosed. |
