titleOfInvention Detection of speed or vibrations using a heterodyne LIDAR lidar device
abstract A method for measuring velocimetric or vibrometric characteristics using a LIDAR type device makes it possible to separate a useful contribution (RV) with respect to a parasitic contribution (RP) in a backscattered signal. For this purpose, a phase characteristic of an optical wave which is transmitted towards a target-volume is modulated. The parasitic contribution, which originates from a source remote from the target volume, appears with variable offsets of said phase characteristic in a heterodyne detection signal. An accumulation then makes it possible to isolate the useful contribution, from which a result is obtained for velocimetric or vibrometric measurement. The method can be implemented with frequency modulation or phase modulation of the optical wave.
