abstract It is described a method for the detection of low molecular weight protein profile from a serum sample comprising the step of: n a) precipitating high abundant serum proteins and collecting supernatant; nb) purifying said collected supernatant with magnetic beads with reverse phase functional surfaces; nc) crystallizing on MALDI mass spectrometer plate the products of step b), using a MALDI crystallization technique, in order to obtain four crystallized homogeneous spots; nd) analyzing LMW protein profiles of all crystallized spots by means of Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization/Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer (MALDI/ToF ).
