A honeycomb structure includes at least one honeycomb unit having multiple through holes provided side by side along a longitudinal direction across partition walls. The honeycomb unit includes zeolite and an inorganic binder. The zeolite has a first portion ion-exchanged with a first metal and a second portion ion-exchanged with a second metal. The first metal is one or more selected from the group consisting of Cu, Mn, and Ag. The second metal is one or more selected from the group consisting of Fe, Ti, and Co. The honeycomb unit includes a first region and a second region other than the first region. The first region extends from one end of the honeycomb unit over more than or equal to 30% and less than or equal to 70% of the overall length of the honeycomb unit in its longitudinal direction. The mass content of the first metal is more than the mass content of the second metal in the first region. The mass content of the second metal is more than the mass content of the first metal in the second region. |
