The invention relates to a method for producing aldehydes by reacting an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid or the salt thereof with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst, said catalyst comprising at least one complex of a metal of subgroup VIII of the periodic system of the elements with a compound of formula (I), wherein Pn represents pnicogen; W represents a bivalent bridging group with 1 to 8 bridging atoms between the flanking bonds; R 1 represents a functional group capable of forming at least one intermolecular, non-covalent bond with the group -X(=O)OH of the compound of formula (I); R 2 , R 3 represent optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, aryl or hetaryl each, or together with the pnicogen atom, and, if applicable, together with the groups Y 2 and Y 3 represent a non-anellated or anellated and unsubstituted or substituted 5- to 8-membered heterocycle; a, b and c is 0 or 1; and Y 1 , Y 2 , Y 3 independently represent O, S, NR a , or SiR b R c , wherein R a , R b , R c represent H or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, aryl or hetaryl each. The invention also relates to the use of said catalyst for the decarboxylating hydroformylation of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids. |
