abstract |
A prosthetic valve assembly for replacing a stenotic native aortic valve, comprising a metallic frame (10) having upper and lower extremities, the frame being compressible for advancing the prosthetic valve assembly through a patient's vasculature using a catheterization technique and the frame being expandable for implanting the prosthetic valve assembly within the stenotic native aortic valve. The prosthetic valve assembly further comprising a collapsible valvular structure (14) formed of pericardial tissue for occluding blood flow in one direction; and an internal cover (19) sutured to a wall of the frame for preventing regurgitation of blood through the wall of the frame. |
