titleOfInvention Optical storage medium comprising tracks with different modulation codes, and respective apparatus for reading of data
abstract The optical storage medium comprises a substrate layer and a data layer disposed on the substrate layer, the data layer having a mark/space data structure being arranged in tracks (T1-T12), wherein marks and spaces of a first track are provided in accordance with a first modulation code (M1) and marks and spaces of a neighboring track are provided in accordance with a second modulation code (M2) being different from the first modulation code. The modulation code of marks and spaces of consecutive neighboring tracks is in particular alternating between the first and the second modulation code. An apparatus for reading data from the optical storage medium comprises a pickup for providing a high frequency signal, a tracking signal and a focus error signal, a tracking regulation and a data processing unit, which decodes the high frequency signal in accordance with the first or the second modulation code, in dependency of a respective track.
