abstract The invention relates to short interfering DNA oligonucleotides (siDNA) capable of binding to Herpes virus RNA, whereby the siDNA oligonucleotides comprise of an antisense-strand that is complementary to the Herpes virus target RNA and a second strand that is partially complementary to the antisense-strand, characterized in that the second strand is connected to the antisense strand by a thymidine linker, preferably 4 nucleotides in length. The siDNA oligonucleotides of the present invention are intended for use as an antiviral therapeutic agent in the treatment and/or prevention of Herpes virus infection.
