abstract The invention relates to an article of clothing (10; 40) for detecting a breathing movement of a living being, wherein the clothing article can be pulled over the thorax of the living being, and has an electrical conductor (12) which can be integrated into the clothing article (10; 40) at the height of the thorax of the living being. Said conductor (12) is attached to the clothing article in such a manner as to modify an electrically measurable characteristic (L; R) according to the thorax breathing movement. The clothing article also has a holder (14) for fastening evaluation electronics (16) which can be integrated into the article of clothing (10; 40), can be coupled to the electrical conductor (12), and which are designed in such a manner as to detect the electrically measurable characteristic (L; R), and which also have an interface to save or transmit data derived from the electrically measurable characteristic.
