abstract There are required a honeycomb structure that is excellent in heat resistance and thermal shock resistance and is less likely to undergo thermal decomposition, and also exhibits stable mechanical properties even when subjected to a heat treatment, and a purifying apparatus using the same. The honeycomb structure of the present invention includes a honeycomb structure made from a ceramic body including a crystal of MgTi 2 O 5 -Al 2 TiO 5 . The purifying apparatus includes a honeycomb structural, and a casing that accommodates the honeycomb structure and has an inlet port and an outlet port, wherein a fluid introduced through the inlet port of the casing is passed through the honeycomb structure and then discharged through the outlet port of the casing.
