titleOfInvention | Electrophysiology methods for identification of protein structures in membranes associated to neurodegenerative diseases |
abstract | An in vitro electro-chemical to evaluate protein structure, active ingredient, and/or compounds of interests' neutro-toxic capacity in live cells, especially derivate from the brain, which includes the following steps: a) providing a live cell culture; b) generating a seal between the said cells' plasma membrane and the patch clamp system pipettes, conserving the bi-layer integrity; c) exposing the said cells' plasma membranes to peptide aggregates, and/or active ingredients, and/or compounds of interest under study; and d) determining, measuring, and quantifying the electric parameters of membranes exposed to said aggregates that show formation of elemental pores through the presence of peptides, aggregates, and natives, or their inhibition by added neuro-protector agents, which shall allow identifying drugs against amyloid-type diseases (Alzheimer, Parkinson, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Prion, Huntington, etc.). |
