Antibiotic composition and process for production of the same |
abstract |
A new technology is demanded to reduce the amount of zinc pyrithione added to hair care products as an anti-dandruff agent so as to reduce an irritation of the ocular mucosa, and to decrease an environmental influence in rivers, lakes and ponds which wastewater containing zinc pyrithione flows into. It is also demanded to accelerate the degradation of zinc pyrithione in sewage treatment facilities and the above environment. n Furthermore, zinc pyrithione formulated as an antifouling agent in ship-bottom paints is leached from a coating film at a rather higher rate and thus results in poor long-term antifouling effect, so that it is also demanded to lower the solubility thereof in seawater. n These problems could be solved at the same time by an antibiotic composition obtained by adsorbing zinc pyrithione or a zinc pyrithione-zinc oxide complex compound to a titanium oxide hydrate. |
