titleOfInvention Apparatus and method for laser treatment of a material, particularly of a biological material
abstract A method for photodisruptive laser processing of a dead material emits a train (18 ') of laser radiation pulses with a pulse duration in the femtosecond range on the material. The pulse train comprises a multiplicity of successive pulse groups, each pulse group comprising at least two laser radiation pulses (20 ', 22'). The pulses of a pulse group are directed to substantially the same processing location of the material, but the pulses of successive groups are directed to substantially different processing locations of the material. According to the invention, the time interval between two successive laser radiation pulses of a pulse group is in the nanosecond range. In particular, the intensity or energy of the pulses is graded within a pulse group, namely such that a pre-emergent pre-pulse (20 ') has substantially lower intensity or energy than a trailing main pulse (22').
