titleOfInvention | Honeycomb Structure |
abstract | There can be provided a honeycomb structure including modifying portions formed in a base material to modify pores which make no or little contribution to the flow of a DPF or each segment, whereby the increase of the heat capacity of the DPF or the segment and a temperature rise during the regeneration of the filter can be decreased, and the excessive increase of a pressure loss can be controlled without decreasing the permeation performance of a fluid. A honeycomb structure has a honeycomb shape and includes a plurality of cells as through channels of a fluid which are partitioned by porous partition walls between the inlet-side end surface of the structure as the inlet side of the fluid and the outlet-side end surface of the structure as the outlet side of the fluid. Partition walls 3 have a porous base material made of ceramic particles, and modifying portions 7 formed by impregnating all or a part of the base material with a slurry including particles having an average particle diameter smaller than the average pore diameter of the base material. |
