abstract |
Disclosed is the use of colesevelam or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the manufacture of a medicament for the purpose of treating Syndrome X in an individual in need thereof, under the proviso that the medicament does not contain a PTPase inhibitor. n Also disclosed is the use of sevelamer or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the manufacture of a medicament for the purpose of treating Syndrome X in an individual in need thereof. n The invention also relates the administration of colesevelam or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in combination with an antihyperlipidemic agent; a plasma HDL-raising agent; an antihypercholesterolemic agent; an acyl-coenzyme A: cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) inhibitor; a cholesterol absorption inhibitor; a bile acid sequestrant anion exchange resin; LDL (low density lipoprotein) receptor inducer; fibrates; vitamin B 6 (also known as pyridoxine) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; vitamin B 12 ; an anti-oxidant vitamin; an angiotensin II antagonist converting enzyme inhibitor; or a platelet aggregation inhibitor. |
