titleOfInvention | Bioluminescent fungi and their application in the study of fungal infections |
abstract | The present invention relates to a nucleic acid comprising a gene encoding a luciferase, which is under the control of a promoter for expression of said luciferase in a filamentous fungal host cell, such as an Aspergillus fumigatus host cell. Advantageously, the promoter is the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase promoter from Aspergillus fumigatus . The invention further relates to a transformed filamentous fungal host cell comprising the nucleic acid of the invention, and to an animal model using different immunosuppression regimens which has been infected with said filamentous fungal host cell. The invention also relates to methods for determining the virulence of filamentous fungal host cells, for studying a fungal infection, or for determining the antifungal activity of a compound. |
