abstract | The invention is related to method for determining whether a healthy individual has an increased risk of developing insulin resistance. In one aspect, the invention comprises the determination of a relative level of at least two fatty acids in a sample of the individual. In a further aspect, the invention comprises the determination of a level of activity of stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) in a sample of said individual. The invention further provides a method of determining a degree of insulin resistance in an individual. |
